Family Focus combines child care for working parents with early learning opportunities in safe, attractive settings. Our early learning centers are accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The Harpswell Island School Age Program and The Williams Cone School Age Program are accredited through the National Afterschool Association. The remaining school age programs are in the process of accreditation.

 

Curriculum and Standards

Family Focus understands that the first years of a child’s life are critical to the development of language proficiency, healthy social and emotional skills, strong attention span, and school readiness.

Recognizing that research-based, high quality infant, toddler and preschool programs are essential, all Family Focus staff are professionally trained to observe a child’s activities and interests, and to help each child acquire social competence and the skills needed to succeed as a learner. Using the Creative Curriculum, and the Tools of the Mind, the early learning centers provide a wide range of opportunities for exploration, inquiry, discovery, and early learning successes.

Family Focus embraces parents as their child’s first teachers. Communication with parents is ongoing and parent involvement with the staff is encouraged.
