Family Focus is a non-profit organization licensed by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services. Its two Early Learning Centers are accessible, engaging, state-of-the-art facilities. Both centers are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Creative Curriculum® is used in the infant, toddler and preschool classrooms. Family Focus also provides School Age Care in the Bowdoin Community School, Bowdoinham Community School, Harpswell Community School, Williams-Cone School in Topsham, Woodside Elementary School in Topsham, and Hawthorne School in Brunswick
Family Focus is committed to serving a widely diverse population in universal settings with support and education for all of its families.
Family Focus receives funding through the United Way of Mid Coast Maine, which helps support its infant and toddler programs. Family Focus accepts subsidies such as ASPIRE, Transitional Child Care, and State of Maine Child Care subsidies.
Family Focus Early Learning Centers participate in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program. This ensures that meals served to children in the centers follow a Healthy Diet emphasizing fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products; includes lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, and nuts; and is low in saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, salt (sodium), and added sugars.
Family Focus embraces parents as their child’s first teachers. Communication with parents is ongoing and parent involvement with the centers is encouraged.
